Editorial policy
Genuine Concert Review aims to make careful, readable writing about concerts and listening. We distinguish what a piece says from what a writer hears or thinks, and we correct the record when we get something wrong.
Accuracy and care
Writers check names, titles, musical terms, and factual details against material available to them before publication. Descriptions of sound and interpretation are presented as observations, not universal verdicts. We avoid implying that a single performance or listening experience represents every performer, tradition, or audience.
Independence
Editorial decisions belong to the publication. A relationship with a partner does not buy favourable coverage, a review, or control over our conclusions. If a connection could reasonably matter to a reader's understanding of a piece, it is disclosed with the relevant material.
Corrections
Readers can send a correction through the Contact page. We review specific, verifiable concerns and amend published material when warranted. A correction is made clearly enough for readers to understand what changed; a difference of musical opinion alone is not treated as a factual error.
Partner material and illustrations
Sponsored material and partner placements are labelled so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial writing. Partnerships do not determine editorial judgments. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, the image is identified accordingly, and it is not presented as documentary evidence of a real performance.
Listen for the choices
A performance is made of decisions: some plainly heard, others felt in the music's pace and direction. We help curious listeners find words for both.
